Build Your Own! : Example Contracts

We’ve spent a lot of time looking at what you need to have in a contract, and even some examples of what happens if someone breaches them. Now it is time to build your own!

Below are examples of two different contracts agreeing to do the same thing. One is a great example of a contract based on everything we’ve learned today, another is a less good example. Have a look at both contracts and see if you can work out which one is the best!

On the next page we’ll go into why one is better than the other.

Contract 1

I, Ceri Blower (‘Ceri’), of 123 Brightside Avenue, enter into a contract with Nicoleen Wong (‘Nicoleen’), of 46 Green Lane, on the date of 3rd January 2020.

Ceri agrees to clean the car of Nicoleen once a week, starting on the 6th January 2020 at a time agreed upon by the parties between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Cleaning of the car will take place at Nicoleen’s residence, at 46 Green Lane.

The cleaning of the car will include washing the outside of the car, hoovering the inside along with maintaining the air pressure in the car’s wheels.

The rate of pay will be £10 per car cleaning session, paid to Ceri in cash at the completion of each cleaning.

This contract can be terminated by either of the parties providing they give 2 clear weeks notice.
